The elbow section is a key component that changes the direction of the chute; its installation angle and orientation directly affect chute flow and buffering performance. This article explains the elbow section installation methods in detail.
- Types of Elbow Sections
| Type |

Purpose |
| Gentle bend section |

| Right-angle section |
90° |
Feed-in and discharge direction change |
- Functions of Elbow Sections
- Change direction: from horizontal to vertical, or bypass obstacles
- Buffer and decelerate: 45° bend dissipates falling kinetic energy
- Connecting section adjustment: connect chutes of different routings
III. Top Feed-in Elbow Installation
- 90° Turn
- Waste is loaded horizontally from the floor
- Falls vertically after the 90° turn
- Elbow inlet connects to the floor platform
- Outlet connects to the vertical main chute
- Installation Key Points
- Horizontal end of elbow connects to the feed platform
- Vertical end faces down to connect to the main chute
- Elbow curvature smooth, no sharp right-angle bends
- Smooth inner wall, no blockage
- Provide fixing points at elbow sections
- Buffer Section (45°) Installation
- Position
- Install at the designed position
- One every 15–25 m
- Denser spacing in high-rise sections
- Orientation
- Bend directions consistent (in the same plane)
- Do not alternate left/right bends (prone to blockage)
- Bend sections slope downward
- Waste slides down the inclined surface
- Fixing
- Provide fixing points at both upper and lower ends of the buffer section
- Withstand impact and vibration
- Reinforce with clamps
- Bottom Discharge Elbow Installation
- 90° Turn Discharge
- Main chute runs vertically downward
- After 90° turn, discharges horizontally into the collection hopper
- Elbow outlet distance from collection hopper ≤500mm
- Buffering Discharge
- Both of the last two sections are 45° turns
- Multiple turns for deceleration
- Bottom discharge speed ≤10m/s
- Elbow Installation Precautions
- Correct angle: install according to the design angle, do not change arbitrarily
- Consistent orientation: multiple buffer sections in the same plane, no left/right alternation
- Joint sealing: sealing rings are also provided at elbow joints
- Firm fixing: fixing points must be provided at elbow sections
- Smooth inner wall: check elbow inner wall for burrs
- Inspection opening: provide an inspection section near elbows
VII. Common Problems
- Blockage
- Cause: angle too small or wrong orientation
- Prevention: install per specifications
- Handling: clear from the inspection opening
- Wear
- Cause: fast wear at bends
- Prevention: thicken or add wear-resistant lining
- Handling: periodic inspection and replacement
- Leakage
- Cause: poor joint sealing
- Prevention: correctly install sealing rings
- Handling: replace sealing rings
