The construction waste chute consists of multiple standard sections connected together, and the section length directly affects installation efficiency, transportation cost, and pipe stability. Longkang offers two standard section lengths, 1.2m and 1.5m, and customers should choose based on actual conditions. This article explains the section length selection method.

High-rise buildings, high throughput |
Longkang's standard section length is 1.5m; in special cases, lengths of 1.0m, 1.2m, and 2.0m can be customized.
- Section Length and Installation Efficiency
- Longer sections mean faster installation
- 5m sections: a 50m pipe requires about 34 sections and 34 connectors
- 2m sections: a 50m pipe requires about 42 sections and 42 connectors
- 5m uses 20% fewer connectors than 1.2m, making installation faster
- Longer sections mean heavier individual sections
- A 1.5m, 600mm-diameter section weighs 30kg
- Two people are required to carry it; one person cannot handle it
- A 1.2m section weighs 24kg and can barely be carried by one person
- Consideration of floor module
- Standard floor height 2.8–3.0 m
- A 1.5m section is exactly half a floor, facilitating the arrangement of floor feed inlets
- Two 1.5m sections = 3.0m, exactly one standard floor height
- 2m sections do not match the floor module, requiring adjustment at the joints
III. Section Length and Transportation
- Transportation limits
- Internal length of standard container 5.9m (20-ft) / 12m (40-ft)
- 5m sections: about 35 sections per 20-ft container
- 0m sections: about 28 sections per 20-ft container
- 2m sections: about 45 sections per 20-ft container
- Handling convenience
- 5m sections can be manually carried upstairs
- Sections over 2.0m require manual assistance for hoisting
- 2m sections are flexible and can be transported by elevator
- Section Length and Pipe Stability
- Longer sections mean fewer connection points
- Connection points are the weak links of the pipe
- Fewer connection points provide better overall stability
- Low leakage risk
- Longer sections mean greater deflection
- The middle sags when the span is large
- Denser fixing points are needed to compensate
- 5m sections only need to be fixed every 3–4 m
- Sections at turns
- Elbow sections (45°/90°) are about 0.6–0.8 m long
- Transition sections are required to connect with standard sections
- Longkang's elbow sections are designed with interfaces unified with the standard sections
- Section Selection Recommendations for Different Scenarios
- External wall mounting (most common)
- 5m standard section recommended
- High installation efficiency, matches the floor module
- Installed by two people working together
- Installation inside the elevator shaft
- 2m sections recommended
- The elevator shaft has limited space; shorter sections are more flexible
- Facilitates section-by-section installation from each floor
- Super high-rise buildings
- 5m heavy-duty sections recommended
- Fewer connection points, high overall strength
- Used in combination with buffer sections
- Short-term rental projects
- 5m standard sections recommended
- Fast assembly and disassembly, high turnover efficiency
- General-purpose, adaptable to multiple projects
- Longkang Section Product Configuration
Each standard section includes:
- Pipe body: HDPE extrusion molding
- Flange ends: integral injection molding or welding
- Connection buckles: quick-lock (2 per set)
- Sealing ring: rubber seal (aging-resistant)
- Fixing clamp interface: a clamp point at the middle of each section
Optional accessories:
- Inspection opening: with transparent cover, for observing inside the pipe
- Inspection opening: removable, for easy clearing of blockages
- Inner wear-resistant liner: for heavy waste projects
VII. Section Quantity Calculation Method
Number of sections = total pipe length ÷ section length + number of elbow sections + number of inspection sections + allowance
Example: an 80m high-rise residential building using 500mm-diameter 1.5m sections
- Total length 80m
- Number of standard sections: 80÷1.5≈54 sections
- Elbow sections: 2 (top feed elbow + bottom discharge elbow)
- Buffer sections: 3 (one every 25m)
- Inspection sections: 3
- Total number of sections about 62
Longkang can accurately calculate the number of sections based on architectural drawings, avoiding over-purchasing or shortage.
