Construction waste chutes are high-altitude vertical transportation equipment, so safety design is critical. Longkang chutes are systematically designed for safety in terms of fall prevention, blockage prevention, splash prevention, and collision prevention. This article details the safety design parameters.
- Fall Prevention Safety
- Chute Structural Safety
- Wall thickness design: meets self-weight + waste + wind load
- Connection strength: buckle tensile resistance ≥5kN
- Fixing point spacing: ≤4m
- Overall wind resistance: does not collapse at 28m/s wind speed
- Fixing System
- Clamps: galvanized steel strap, 50mm width
- Anchors: M12 chemical anchors
- Tensile resistance per fixing point ≥10kN
- Safety factor ≥3
- Anti-fall Design
- The chute bottom is not suspended; connected to a collection hopper
- The chute does not pass through pedestrian activity areas
- A warning zone is set up at the bottom
- Self-closing door at the feed inlet (to prevent accidental loading)
- Blockage Prevention Safety
- Diameter Design
- Maximum waste lump size ≤60% of the diameter
- 400mm pipe max lump 250mm
- 500mm pipe max lump 300mm
- 600mm pipe max lump 400mm
- Buffer Design
- Buffer sections change direction to prevent high-speed straight-down impact
- Reduces blockage by large lumps
- Buffer section angle 45°, forming no dead corners
- Inspection Design
- Inspection section every 30m
- Inspection opening mandatory at every bend
- Inspection opening at the bottom
- Blockages can be cleared through the inspection opening
- Feed Grid
- Grid at the feed inlet (spacing = 60% of diameter)
- Blocks oversize lumps
- Prevents blockage
III. Splash Prevention Safety
- Feed Inlet Splash Prevention
- Movable self-closing door, closes after loading
- Rubber seal on the inside of the door
- Protective net above the feed inlet
- Prevents waste from splashing out of the feed inlet
- Bottom Splash Prevention
- Distance from discharge outlet to collection hopper ≤500mm
- The collection hopper has a top cover
- Canvas flexible hose connected to the discharge outlet
- Protective shelter at the bottom
- Joint Leak Prevention
- Sealing rings provide sealing
- No dust or lump leakage
- Inspect sealing rings regularly
- Collision Prevention Safety
- Chute Position
- The chute does not obstruct passageways
- Distance from pedestrian areas ≥1m
- Does not pass through doors or windows
- Does not affect scaffolding
- Warning Signs
- Warning signs posted on the chute every 10m
- "Caution: Falling Objects", "No Climbing"
- "Loading Attention" sign posted at the feed inlet
- "Danger Zone" warning sign at the bottom
- Night Warning
- Warning light at the bottom (red flashing)
- Reminds personnel to stay away at night
- Suitable for night construction projects
- Electrical Safety (Electric Type)
- Electrical Safety
- Dust extraction equipment grounded
- Leakage protection for spray devices
- Cables installed overhead
- Complies with temporary electricity codes for construction sites
- Lightning Protection
- Grounding provided for high-rise chutes
- Grounding resistance ≤10Ω
- Prevents lightning strikes
- Safety Inspection Parameters
Daily inspection:
- Check for chute deformation or cracks
- Check connector looseness
- Check whether fixing clamps are secure
- Check whether feed inlet doors are intact
- Check for blockage at the bottom
Weekly inspection:
- Sealing ring condition
- Buffer section wear
- Anchor bolt looseness
- Warning signs intact
Monthly inspection:
- Chute verticality
- Fixing point loading
- Wear of wearable parts
- Comprehensive service life assessment
VII. Safe Operation Procedures
- It is strictly prohibited to load oversized waste lumps beyond the specification
- It is strictly prohibited to load flammable or explosive materials
- It is strictly prohibited to load liquid waste (except water)
- Close the feed inlet door after loading
- It is strictly prohibited to stay under the chute
- When blocked, it is strictly prohibited to throw objects upward from the bottom to clear the blockage
- Stop use immediately and repair upon finding damage
- Stop use in strong winds (≥ level 8)
VIII. Longkang Safety Design Commitment
- Wall thickness and connections designed with a safety factor of 3
- Fixing points calculated for wind load
- Product comes with a safe operation manual
- Warning sign stickers provided with delivery
- Installation safety briefing can be provided
- The manufacturer is liable for safety accidents caused by quality issues
